Janis Kerman

It’s the balance, not the symmetry . . .  that is important to me.  I am intrigued by the way shapes and colours work together.  In my “mismatched” earrings, I am challenged by the exercise of creating a balance from 2 parts that are not mirror images but rather compliments of one another.

My work has always been based on geometric form and abstraction.  I am inspired by things around me both artistic and common place – furniture, architecture, paintings, ceramics, textiles …. just about anything!  Both two and three-dimensional planes appeal to me.  They catch my attention as I see in them, lines and forms from spaces and shadows.

From my introduction to jewelry making and designing….I knew that this was me métier, my creative direction.
